Da eine Behandlung aller existierenden Theorien zur Entstehung von Selbst und Selbstkonzepten den Rahmen dieser Arbeit sprengen würde, beschränke ich mich auf die in diesem Seminar erörterten. Demnach folgen Abschnitte über die Entstehungsentwürfe Margaret Mahlers, Daniel Sterns, Eva-Maria Biermann-Ratjens, Martin Dornes' und die Forschungsgruppe um Peter Fonagy sowie Carl Rogers'. Dem Entwicklungskonzept von Rogers wird dabei die größte Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet, da diese Arbeit im Rahmen des Schwerpunktes 'Personenzentrierte Beratung und Psychotherapie' geschrieben wird und in vielen wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten auf sein Modell immer noch Bezug genommen wird.
